Important: nothing on stockvalcalc.com is investment advice. Read this page before relying on any output from our calculators.
Educational and informational only
All calculators, articles and examples on this site are provided for general education. They are simplified models of how valuation works, designed to help you understand the mechanics. They are not a recommendation to buy, sell or hold any security, and they are not a substitute for your own research or for professional advice.
We are not investment advisers
ValueCalc is an independent project operated by an individual. We are not a registered investment adviser, broker-dealer or financial planner in any jurisdiction. We do not know your financial situation, objectives, tax position or risk tolerance, and no output from this site can account for them.
Outputs are estimates, not facts
Every valuation model rests on assumptions you supply. A discounted cash flow result changes materially if the growth rate moves by one percentage point; a dividend model can produce almost any number depending on the discount rate chosen. Our calculators will return a result for any input you give them, including unrealistic ones. An output is a reflection of your assumptions, not an independent opinion about value.
No guarantee of accuracy
We take care with the formulas and test them against known examples, but we do not warrant that the site is free of errors, that it will be available at all times, or that the formulas are appropriate for your specific purpose. Financial data you enter should be checked against primary sources such as company filings before you act on it.
Past performance and forward estimates
Historical growth rates, returns and yields say nothing reliable about the future. Any projection produced by these tools — including compound growth figures and target prices — is arithmetic applied to your inputs, not a forecast. Investing in securities involves risk of loss, including the loss of principal.
Advertising and affiliate relationships
This site is supported by advertising, including Google AdSense, and may in future include affiliate links that earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Advertisers do not influence which calculators we build or what our articles say. The presence of an ad is not an endorsement of the product by us.
Tax and jurisdiction
Tax treatment of dividends, capital gains and interest differs by country and by individual circumstance. Nothing here is tax advice. Your use of this site is governed by the laws applicable in your own jurisdiction, and you are responsible for complying with them.
Your responsibility
You alone are responsible for your investment decisions and for any resulting gain or loss. If you are unsure, consult a licensed financial professional before committing capital.
How this disclaimer interacts with local law
Some jurisdictions require specific disclosures before investment-related content can be distributed to residents. The United States, for example, restricts investment adviser publishing under SEC rules; the United Kingdom and Australia have comparable regimes run by the FCA and ASIC respectively. ValueCalc does not market to any specific country and is not registered with any regulator, but if you are reading this from a country with strict publishing rules, treat the calculators as educational material only and disregard any impression of personal recommendation.
If any provision of this disclaimer is found by a court to be unenforceable in your jurisdiction, the remaining provisions continue to apply.
No client relationship
Using this site, sending us an email, or quoting our calculators in your own work does not create any form of advisory, fiduciary or professional relationship. We are not your adviser. We do not know you, your portfolio, your tax situation or your objectives. Anything you infer from a calculation is your own conclusion, not ours.
Limits of free tools
Free, browser-based calculators trade off depth for accessibility. They will not tell you to use a different valuation model when the inputs you have are inappropriate for the one you picked; they will not flag when you have used an earnings number that includes a one-off gain; they will not warn that a single-period estimate is dominated by the most recent quarter. The pages describe some of these limits in their FAQ sections, but no calculator can substitute for the judgement of a competent analyst who knows which model is appropriate for which situation.
Affiliate relationships
The site may in future include affiliate links to brokerages, data providers or educational resources, marked as such where they appear. An affiliate link means we earn a small payment if you sign up or purchase through it; the price you pay is the same. Affiliate relationships are disclosed per link, not consolidated, so you can decide on a case-by-case basis whether to use them. Affiliate revenue, if any, does not affect which calculators we build or what our pages say.
